Who Dr. Hanh sees.

Her particular expertise is in children and teenagers: how they develop, and the behaviour and emotions that worry their families.

Children and teenagers

Developmental assessment, behaviour, emotions, learning and attention, sleep. Parents or carers take part in the visit.

Adults

Anxiety, low mood, depression, long-lasting insomnia, severe stress, trauma after a major event, and signs of psychosis.

Families settling in Vietnam

Jet lag that will not settle, and the stress of a new country, school or language, for parents and children alike.

Services and
when to book.

Each area lists the signs that most often bring people in. If something here sounds familiar, a conversation is a good first step.

Developmental assessment for children

Particular expertise

A look at how your child is developing in language, movement, thinking, communication and social interaction for their age, so you can decide together what follow-up or support would help.

  • Speaking or moving later than other children of the same age
  • Little eye contact, rarely responds to their name, or finds it hard to play with others
  • Teachers or relatives are concerned about how your child is developing

Behaviour and emotions in children and teenagers

Particular expertise

Understanding what lies behind difficult behaviour, and building ways to support your child at home and at school.

  • Tantrums, defiance or anger that last and are getting harder to manage
  • Worry about school, refusing to go, or withdrawing from friends
  • Clear changes in mood during the teenage years

Learning, focus and attention

For children or adults whose schoolwork or job is affected by trouble focusing, forgetfulness or inattention over a long period.

  • Easily distracted, often leaving tasks unfinished
  • Finding it hard to sit still or wait your turn
  • School or work results dropping without a clear reason

Sleep, jet lag and body clock

For sleep that has been disrupted for weeks, including jet lag that will not settle after long-haul flights, frequent travel or a move to Vietnam.

  • Jet lag that lingers well after you land, or a body clock that never quite resets between trips
  • Long-lasting insomnia, trouble falling asleep, or sleep that is never deep
  • A sudden change in your daily rhythm, or children whose sleep has not settled after a move

Anxiety, low mood and depression

When difficult feelings last and begin to affect work, study or relationships.

  • Persistent worry, low mood or feeling hopeless
  • Irritability, or emotions that feel out of control
  • Losing interest in things you used to enjoy

Stress and psychological trauma

Support after a major life event, such as a loss, an accident or a breakdown in a relationship, or a long period of pressure.

  • Stress that feels overwhelming and does not ease
  • Flashbacks, nightmares, or avoiding reminders of what happened
  • Settling-in stress after relocating: a new country, school, language or job

Signs of psychosis

These signs need an early assessment. Dr. Hanh assesses, treats, and guides the family on how to support their loved one.

  • Delusions, or suspicion with no real basis
  • Hearing or seeing things other people do not

If you or someone you care for is in immediate danger, including thoughts of self-harm, call 115 or go to the nearest emergency department now. Booking a visit is not an emergency service.
